You can change the difficulty level in the Main Options menu.
When playing the game in NORMAL mode, the usual number of hits required to defeat the bosses is 8.
When playing the game in EASY mode, the usual number of hits required to defeat the bosses is 6.
Also, some enemies will be absent in the game.
DESCRIPTION:
Dr. Eggman is on a tank driving back and forth, with a hammer swinging around.
OBJECTIVE:
The goal is to hit the tank and avoid the hammer.
To attack this boss quicker, you can jump to the right just before the Hammer Tank arrives. Then, you can perform a Spin Dash to attack from behind.
CHALLENGE:
During the last remaining hit, the tank will jump while the hammer is touching the floor in front of it. So be careful.
DESCRIPTION:
Dr. Eggman is on a cockpit with a spring underneath. He bounces while catching you.
OBJECTIVE:
The goal is to hit the cockpit and avoid being hit by the spring.
CHALLENGE:
Sometimes after a few hits, Dr. Eggman will jump so high and then land hard on the floor. When this happens, jump in the air while Dr. Eggman is landing. Otherwise, you will get hit by the earthquake.
DESCRIPTION:
Dr. Eggman is on a ball. He, as well as an iron ball with spikes, moves from tube to tube either horizontally or vertically.
A platform is also present so you can jump on it to attack Dr. Eggman in higher places.
OBJECTIVE:
The goal is to hit the Egg Ball and avoid the iron ball with spikes. Keep an eye on both balls, as they appear randomly.
If you are fast enough, you can hit the Egg Ball twice in a row.
CHALLENGE:
The more you hit Dr. Eggman, the faster the balls move.
DESCRIPTION:
The battle happens underwater with the surface being just underneath the ceiling.
Dr. Eggman is in a spider-like mech walking on the ceiling. After walking, he hits the ceiling so icicles will fall in the water.
OBJECTIVE:
You need to jump on the falling icicles so you can have enough height to hit Dr. Eggman. Be careful not to get hit by the icicles.
Also, make sure to jump out of the water. Because if you stay too long underwater, you will run out of breath and lose a life.
If you play as Tails, you can just fly and hit Dr. Eggman to the side out of the water.
If you play as Knuckles, you can swim on the surface to keep hitting Dr. Eggman.
If you play as Amy, you can just attack Dr. Eggman by jumping and attacking at the right time.
CHALLENGE:
The more you hit Dr. Eggman, the more icicles will fall in the water.
DESCRIPTION:
Mecha-Knuckles is a robot that looks and moves like Knuckles. He can jump, glide, perform a Spin Dash and punches when getting too close.
OBJECTIVE:
The goal is to hit Mecha-Knuckles and avoid its attacks.
When Mecha-Knuckles falls after gliding, it's your chance to attack. Or when Mecha-Knuckles stands still, attack by jumping on it.
CHALLENGE:
After hitting a few times, Mecha Knuckles reveals its true from and can sometimes shoot homing missiles when you are far away.
DESCRIPTION:
Dr. Eggman is upside down in a cockpit with spikes attached by ball chains. The cockpit moves back and forth.
The ball chains are used to be shaken when jumping around.
OBJECTIVE:
To defeat this boss, you first need to jump and land nearby the cockpit to turn the cockpit around. Then, once Dr. Eggman is exposed, attack by jumping on top of the cockpit.
Be careful not to touch the spikes and its shots. And if Dr. Eggman stays exposed for too long, he turns the cockpit upside down.
Also, be careful not to get hit multiple times, as the rings don't bounce on the ball chains. It's recommend to start the battle with a Barrier equipped.
CHALLENGE:
After a few hits, the cockpit moves very quickly for a brief period. The strategy to avoid the cockpit easily is to jump next to a wall when the cockpit is about to approach you.
DESCRIPTION:
The first boss of the X-Zone is Dr. Eggman on a cockpit with a wrecking ball swinging back and forth.
OBJECTIVE:
The goal is to hit the cockpit while avoiding the wrecking ball.
This boss only takes 4 hits to defeat.
DESCRIPTION:
The second boss of the X-Zone is Dr. Eggman on a vehicle driving back and forth with a drill in the front.
OBJECTIVE:
The goal is to hit the vehicle while avoiding the drill.
This boss only takes 4 hits to defeat.
CHALLENGE:
After the third hit, The drill shoots out in front of the vehicle. Make sure to avoid the shooting drill.
DESCRIPTION:
The final boss of the X-Zone is Dr. Eggman in a spinning cockpit. This cockpit has different behaviours that happen at random.
Dr. Eggman can attack either by shooting a quick laser beam in the front, firing a cannonball, or launching an extensive arm that catches you.
He can sometimes move to the other side of the area to stay there.
OBJECTIVE:
The goal is to hit the top of the cockpit when Dr. Eggman is exposed. Make sure to time your jump.
The best way to attack is when he uses the extensive arm, as he stays exposed long enough.
